Lots of things, actually.
Leaves fall in the fall. Down. Down. Down. And they crunch underneath our feet as we walk on great big piles of them. Our forest gives us a chance to experience the sights, sounds and smells of nature.
Rain falls in the Fall too. And occasionally some snow.
Temperatures fall. The weather begins to feel colder and we need to bundle up when we go outside.
What do the animals do in the fall?
They get ready for the winter time. Chipmunks like to gather nuts to bring to their burrows, to munch on throughout the cold winter. We hunted for “nuts” (paper ones) and brought them to Mr. Chipmunk in our classroom burrow.
We looked outside for real nuts or acorns, but all we found were some empty shells. Looks like those hungry chipmunks beat us to it!
